I hope you find this review useful and leave a comment below! <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bridgeman&#8217;s Chophouse is the fine-dining steakhouse inside the Read House hotel<\/strong>&nbsp;at 107 West MLK Blvd in downtown Chattanooga. It&#8217;s a classic, dark-walled steakhouse room where the steaks are hand-cut, the menu is \u00e0 la carte, and dinner for one runs about $120 to $145 with a cocktail and tip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I finally got a chance to enjoy this restaurant during my visit to Chattanooga for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thequeenoftrips.com\/es\/vale-la-pena-ir-a-wits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\" title=\"\">cumbre viajera WITS<\/a>.  I  ordered the 16 oz hand-cut ribeye, medium, and it was one of the juiciest steaks I&#8217;ve had in years. It&#8217;s intimate and calm.  It is not the loud, clubby steakhouse energy you get in other steakhouses.  I ate at the early seating, just after five, and had the place mostly to myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On dress code: there&#8217;s no bouncer checking your outfit, and at 5 p.m. smart casual is completely fine.  But this is a room that requires effort.  If you&#8217;re going later in the evening, go chic. Peter &#8220;Rabbit&#8221; Bridgeman worked at the Read House for 47 years, and by every account he never forgot a name or a face. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was the kind of server who&nbsp;<em><strong>was<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp;the hotel, the one who made regulars feel like family for nearly half a century. You&#8217;re eating inside a tribute to a man who spent 47 years making people feel remembered. It was deliciously juicy \u2014 the kind of steak where the first cut tells you the kitchen knows what it&#8217;s doing. The steaks here are hand-cut in house, and the menu runs from center-cut filets in the high $50s up to a 60-day dry-aged ribeye at $88 if you want to go full occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Truffle_butter_%E2%80%94_5\"><\/span>Truffle butter \u2014 $5<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A five-dollar add-on that earns its place. That&#8217;s partly on me because days into a travel week of heavy Southern food, I was chasing vegetables, and this wasn&#8217;t the veggie fix I wanted.  Everything at Bridgeman&#8217;s is \u00e0 la carte, so choose your side carefully. Next time I&#8217;d go for the asparagus or the honey sesame mushrooms instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Revenge_of_Mr_Netherly_%E2%80%94_14\"><\/span>The Revenge of Mr. Netherly \u2014 $14<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I ordered this cocktail mostly because of the name, and I stand by that decision-making process. It&#8217;s pink, it&#8217;s pretty, and if you&#8217;ve read my\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thequeenoftrips.com\/es\/read-house-room-311\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\" title=\"\">Room 311 post<\/a>, you&#8217;ll recognize the name. Netherly is the name at the center of the hotel&#8217;s famous ghost story, and the bar menu reflects that all the way. Ordering a ghost story in cocktail form, inside the hotel where the ghost still haunts to this day, is the kind of detail that makes this place interesting and fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dining_solo_at_Bridgemans\"><\/span>Dining solo at Bridgeman&#8217;s<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have been eating alone at nice restaurants for years, so a table for one at a chophouse doesn&#8217;t make me feel sad or lonely.  It feels like a date, and I&#8217;m the one I took out. If solo dining still makes you feel a certain way, this is the room where I would tell you to practice.<br><br>It&#8217;s calm, it&#8217;s intimate, nobody is watching you, and the early seating is quiet enough that you can settle in with your steak and your pink cocktail and nobody blinks twice about it. My solo dinner at Bridgeman&#8217;s came to $144.25 before the Amex credit.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s the real math, straight off the check: food $91, cocktail $14, a $3.15 &#8220;tech fee&#8221; the restaurant adds automatically (I didn&#8217;t catch it when I was there but it is worth sharing that it&#8217;s there), and $12.10 in tax \u2014 $120.25 due, plus a $24 tip.&nbsp;<br><strong>Total: $144.25 for one person.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I booked the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thequeenoftrips.com\/es\/read-house-chattanooga-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\" title=\"\">Read House<\/a> through&nbsp;the American Express Travel Hotel Collection, which comes with a $100 property credit.  I charged dinner to my room, the credit ate most of the bill, and my actual out-of-pocket for a ribeye dinner at a fine-dining steakhouse was about $45. Worth it?<strong> Completely.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"So_is_Bridgemans_worth_it\"><\/span>So, is Bridgeman&#8217;s worth it?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>YES!!<\/strong>&nbsp;Book it if you&#8217;re staying at the Read House (especially on an Amex booking with that credit), if you want a dressy, calm, special-occasion steak downtown, if you are looking for a great steakhouse, or if you&#8217;re a solo traveler ready to treat yourself properly.  The ribeye alone justified the visit and I was very satisfied with the flavor of my steak and my cocktail.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not a great picture of myself running between conference sessions and city tours during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thequeenoftrips.com\/es\/vale-la-pena-ir-a-wits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\" title=\"\">cumbre viajera WITS<\/a>, but dining at Bridgeman&#8217;s was a delightful experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Skip it<\/strong>&nbsp;if you&#8217;re hunting cheap eats, traveling with kids who won&#8217;t sit through a white-tablecloth dinner, or if you want a big loud scene.  This room whispers, it doesn&#8217;t shout.
